About this role

The intermediate Water Damage Specialist acts as head of the water damage team handling residential and small commercial losses. They demonstrate knowledge and technical competence in IICRC standard work practices for water and mold damage. Competence includes use, care, and maintenance of water extraction, drying equipment, and moisture detection instruments.

Specialists determine the extent, dimension, and distribution of moisture while documenting water losses. They assist in developing basic level technicians and support advanced technicians on complex projects. In catastrophe service, they manage multiple losses, organizing temporary workers.

Daily tasks involve receiving supervisor instructions, directing teams on PPE use, and reviewing project requirements. They provide field documentation, photographic records, charts, and sketches. Vehicle safety inspections and maintenance ensure readiness for jobs.

Compliance with BELFOR standards safeguards property, with deep customer service knowledge essential. Ability to work under time constraints meets deadlines, including periodic travel, nights, and weekends. This role is level 3 in the Water Damage progressive itinerary.

Requirements

  • 12 months previous experience in Basic Level Water Damage or equivalent
  • Direct participation in at least 25 water damage projects
  • Working knowledge of IICRC S500 Water Damage Standard
  • Working knowledge of IICRC S520 Mold Remediation Standard
  • Current IICRC WRT designation
  • Familiarity with BELFOR Water Damage Book
  • Proper use of meters, IR camera, and moisture detection instruments
  • Ability to identify Class 4 material and deploy effective drying techniques

Responsibilities

  • Receive instructions from the Supervisor
  • Direct teams in the use of the right PPE for the job
  • Review daily project requirements, document progress, and notify managers of challenges
  • Provide field documentation, photographic records, charts, and sketches
  • Perform daily inspections of vehicle safety and maintenance
  • Supervise and self-perform Water Damage Basic tasks
  • Create moisture maps using provided tools and knowledge
  • Supervise small crews on drying and restoration tasks
