About this role

The Senior Safety Officer establishes safety protocols and standards for workplace safety practices in renewable energy projects. Responsibilities include developing and implementing safety operation plans for each site to ensure comprehensive protection. This role focuses on proactive hazard prevention across construction environments.

Daily tasks involve organizing documents and creating forms for daily and monthly safety inspections. Conduct safety training programs for new employees and perform various Job Safety Analysis (JSA) checklists for risk assessment. Plan annual health checkups and create PPE wearing schedules based on job types.

Coordinate emergency preparedness planning, hazard prevention, and emergency drill coordination while appointing a safety committee for monthly meetings and reporting. Investigate and analyze work-related injuries and illnesses to compile incident statistics. Work autonomously or in teams, traveling to sites in other provinces 5-15 days per month.

Gather data on incidents for analysis and prepare reports with recommendations to improve safety measures. Drive continuous enhancements in safety systems through diligent documentation and committee oversight. This position supports renewable energy site operations with a focus on compliance and employee well-being.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Occupational Health and Safety
  • 5 years experience in project safety for renewable energy
  • Pro-active and responsible, comfortable working autonomously as well as in a team environment
  • Hard working, ability to work independently, flexible and meet deadlines
  • Hard skills in computers, office equipment, office software including email, scheduling, basic computer networking
  • Able to drive a car and hold a valid driver's license
  • Willingness to travel to other provinces for 5-15 days per month
