About this role

(Archer Wright JV) is currently seeking a Carpenter for the (TSENC I-26 Downtown Connector) in Asheville, NC. The Carpenter constructs, erects, installs structures made of wood, plywood, wallboard, and other materials. Uses carpentry hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machines for commercial, industrial, or heavy civil jobsites.

Daily tasks involve measuring distances and marking guidelines on working surfaces to prepare layouts. Builds and installs wooden structures aligned with prefabricated units to form bridges, drainage structures, walls, and more. May assist with awnings and metal decking for concrete slabs if decking is removed.

Work alongside co-workers and supervisors on projects building infrastructure where you live. Comply with all safety policies and procedures to ensure proper project completion. Use carpenter’s belt with tools on scaffolds, ladders, and in adverse weather.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years verifiable experience preferred
  • Ability to climb and maintain balance on scaffold or ladder
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in adverse weather conditions
  • Comply with all safety policies and procedures
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure projects are completed properly
  • Strong work ethic and desire to learn
  • Good manual dexterity; stand, bend, kneel, or sit for long periods
  • Pass pre-employment drug screening

Responsibilities

  • Measure distances and mark guidelines on working surfaces to prepare for laying down work
  • Prepare, build, and install wooden structures in line with prefabricated units to form bridges, drain structures, walls, and additional structures
  • Assist with installation of awnings and metal decking for concrete slabs if decking is removed
  • Use carpenter’s belt with carpentry hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery
  • Construct and erect structures using wood, plywood, wallboard, and other materials on jobsites
  • Install formwork and supports for heavy civil, commercial, or industrial projects
