About this role

The Senior Safety Officer of Operations Enablement plays a key role in strengthening province-wide consistency and excellence in safety oversight for elevating technology. This role focuses on Safety Officer training and development through in-field and virtual coaching, mentoring, and skills refinement.

Day-to-day, the SSO provides guidance on technical decisions, operational practices, and code clarification and application. They act as a frontline support and subject matter resource, helping narrow variability in inspection outcomes and enhancing operational effectiveness across all regions.

This role partners with the Standards and Technical Leadership Team and Employee Learning & Development on Safety Officer Journey Maps and competency development. The SSO also represents Operations as a subject matter expert for organizational projects and initiatives, working to improve assessment consistency and reduce administrative work.

In this position, you will travel to different regions regularly, spending up to 30% of your time in the field. You will have the opportunity to shape training content, conduct routine audits, and identify trends that inform future process improvements and operational guidance.

Requirements

  • Experience leading training and mentoring of safety officers in a construction or building trades environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of code clarification and application for elevating technology.
  • Ability to conduct routine audits and identify trends to inform training and process improvements.
  • Strong technical decision-making skills and ability to provide guidance on operational practices.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to different regions, spending up to 30% of time in the field.
  • Experience partnering with learning and development teams on competency development and training content.
  • Ability to manage and triage support requests in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Lead new Safety Officer training and competency verification.
  • Support regional-based trainers of new Safety Officers.
  • Facilitate and plan ongoing Safety Officer development opportunities to increase alignment and standardization of assessment practices.
  • Perform routine audits in their respective technology to identify gaps and trends for future training and consistency opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain decision logs around technical decisions for ongoing learning opportunities.
  • Provide regular in-field and remote support to Safety Officers on initial code clarifications, operational practices, and technical decision making.
  • Identify and support the implementation of digital tools and workflow efficiencies to improve assessment consistency and reduce administrative work.
  • Represent Operations as a subject matter expert for organizational projects and initiatives.
