About this role

As the SHEQ Advisor for JSM Group Services Ltd., you will act as the primary point of contact for pursuing a harm free future across your division. You will ensure compliance with all SHEQ legislation and best practices while supporting the SHEQ Manager in developing and rolling out divisional plans.

In this visible champion role, you will prioritize and manage a variety of daily tasks with minimal supervision, maintaining awareness of JSM and client procedures. You will also support out of hours operations with occasional weekend and night work.

You will lead others through expertise, influence, and coaching, using SHEQ data and KPIs to drive performance conversations with operational teams. You will provide independent assurance through regular audits and inspection, ensuring the integrated management system is followed on every site.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of SHEQ legislation and best practices applicable to the construction and utilities sector.
  • Experience in conducting site audits and inspections to provide independent assurance.
  • Ability to compile, review, and revise SHEQ documentation including risk assessments, method statements, COSHH assessments, and emergency plans.
  • Proficiency in using SHEQ data, KPIs, and dashboards to drive performance improvements.
  • Experience in developing and delivering site-based SHEQ awareness training, toolbox talks, and workshops.
  • Willingness to work out of hours occasionally, including weekends and nights, to support operations.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the point of contact for all matters relating to 'Pursuing a harm free future' in your division.
  • Ensure the provision of professional SHEQ advice and solutions, ensuring compliance with legislation and best practice.
  • Work with the SHEQ Manager on developing and rolling out divisional plans and improvement projects.
  • Act as a visible SHEQ champion, setting an example with SHEQ-related behaviours and demonstration of JSM’s values.
  • Prioritise and manage a variety of day-to-day tasks with minimal supervision, meeting all relevant SHEQ Team KPIs.
  • Lead others through expertise, influence, and coaching to avoid damage or loss and impact operational efficiencies.
  • Provide independent assurance through regular audits and inspections, ensuring the integrated management system is followed.
  • Undertake site competency checks for critical risk activities, including CAT & Genny operations, plant operators, and deep excavation/temporary works.
