About this role

The Construction Manager plans, directs, budgets, and supervises project managers and field staff on multiple projects. They handle business development to grow market share within the region. Construction Managers work with management for maximum efficiency, economy of operations, and profits.

Daily duties include reviewing proposal specifications, drawings, and site visits to prepare bid/estimate proposals. They determine labor, equipment, and material needs for projects. Leadership ensures projects meet timelines, job costing, and owner expectations.

Supervise field crew, foremen, and superintendents while troubleshooting production issues like material quality and equipment repair. Coordinate with senior management on project objectives, schedules, and performance. Conduct site inspections for compliance with plans, specifications, and codes.

Work closely with safety, environmental, and HR teams to create a safe workplace that attracts and retains employees. Lead business development pursuits and execute strategies to expand market share. Ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DNR regulations to mitigate risks.

Requirements

  • 10+ Years of estimating and project management experience in the Heavy Civil industry
  • Construction Management or Civil Engineering degree preferred
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and complete projects on schedule
  • Advanced knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong understanding of HCSS and scheduling software preferred
  • Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills
  • Maintain confidentiality and contribute to a team-oriented work environment
  • Willing to travel for short periods within the intermountain region

Responsibilities

  • Review proposal specifications, drawings, pre-bid meetings and visit project sites to determine scope of work for bid/estimate proposals
  • Determine labor, equipment and material requirements to prepare bid/estimate proposals
  • Provide leadership and guidance to project managers to ensure projects meet contracted time frames and owner expectations
  • Review and provide guidance on monthly WIP and ensure estimates/proposals are submitted on time
  • Communicate and coordinate with senior management and field leadership on project objectives, procedures, schedules and performance requirements
  • Provide indirect or direct supervision of field crew members, foremen or superintendents
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve situations like material quality and equipment operation/repair
  • Lead business development pursuits and develop strategy to grow market share in construction
