About this role

Wood is recruiting an experienced Quantity Surveyor for its Commercial team in the Oil, Gas & New Energies business based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The full-time onshore site-based role supports construction, installation, and engineering activities. Precision site surveys ensure project success amid client expectations.

Daily tasks involve planning and executing site surveys with efficiency, establishing control points, benchmarks, and reference systems for pipelines, structures, and equipment. Survey teams are led to deliver quality work on time, while coordinating with engineering, construction, and QA/QC resolves discrepancies. Survey data management includes topographic maps, as-built records, and digital models.

Work occurs on large, complex projects for national and international energy companies, challenging the status quo in upstream, midstream, and decarbonization markets. Requirements

  • Experience planning and executing site surveys in construction and civil engineering projects
  • Proficiency establishing control points, benchmarks, and reference systems for accurate alignments
  • Knowledge of compliance with project specifications and industry standards in survey operations
  • Leadership skills in supervising survey teams and assigning tasks
  • Ability to coordinate with engineering, construction, and QA/QC disciplines
  • Expertise managing survey data, topographic maps, as-built records, and digital models
  • Familiarity utilizing and calibrating surveying instruments like total stations and GPS
  • Understanding of safety protocols and risk mitigation in site survey environments

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute site surveys to support construction, installation, and engineering activities with precision and efficiency
  • Establish and maintain control points, benchmarks, and reference systems for accurate layout and alignment of pipelines, structures, and equipment
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements in all survey operations
  • Lead and supervise survey teams, assigning tasks and ensuring quality and timeliness of deliverables
  • Coordinate with engineering, construction, and QA/QC teams to resolve discrepancies and support project execution
  • Manage survey data and documentation, including topographic maps, as-built records, and digital models
  • Utilize and maintain surveying instruments and tools, ensuring proper calibration and functionality
  • Implement safety protocols during survey activities, identifying and mitigating risks related to terrain and equipment
