The firm seeks a full-time Architect - Construction Manager to support projects at Bay Pines VA Medical Center in Florida. This role serves as Owner’s Representative for the Department of Veterans Affairs during construction activities.

The program involves new construction and phased renovation on an active VA medical campus, including historic buildings. Work spans multi-million-dollar hospital renovations and infrastructure improvements across planning, design, procurement, construction, and closeout stages. Field presence ensures compliance with contract documents and standards.

Daily tasks include routine inspections, observing contractor work, preparing reports, and maintaining project files. Coordinate with contractors, engineers, VA staff, and stakeholders in weekly meetings. Support safety efforts aligned with OSHA, EM 385-1-1, and project requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of construction experience; experience with healthcare or federal projects preferred
  • Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and construction contract administration is a plus
  • Working knowledge of building, safety, and environmental codes
  • General understanding of civil, architectural, and structural systems
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine field inspections to verify construction complies with contract documents, approved submittals, and applicable codes and standards
  • Observe contractor and subcontractor work; identify and report issues related to workmanship, materials, safety, and code compliance
  • Assist in developing punch lists and tracking corrective actions through completion
  • Prepare daily reports documenting construction progress, manpower, work activities, and site conditions
  • Maintain organized project files, including inspection reports, correspondence, photographs, and deficiency logs
  • Review contractor submittals, RFIs, testing reports, and inspection documentation
  • Attend weekly project meetings and coordinate with project stakeholders, including contractors, engineers, and VA staff
  • Support site safety efforts by working with the Safety Manager to observe and document compliance with OSHA, EM 385-1-1, and project-specific safety requirements
