
About this role
Assist journeyman in planning, lay-out and installing forms, rebar, embeds and anchor bolts for installation of concrete structures in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes and industry standards. Use appropriate hand and power tools to properly measure, cut, assemble and install these components. The role supports diverse teams that interchange ideas for better client solutions.
Construct built-in-place or prefabricated wooden forms according to specifications for molding concrete structures. Erect forms, insert spreaders and tie-rods to maintain dimensions, and anchor them using nails, bolts, and timber. Build wooden structures like scaffold supports and frame shelters per project specifications.
Help pour concrete into forms, vibrate, level, smooth and shape surfaces to specified textures. Remove rough or defective spots using power grinder, chisel and hammer, and patch holes with fresh concrete or epoxy. Install all other items in accordance with applicable plans and specifications.
Participate in all safety related processes and programs to achieve zero injuries. Coordinate work with other crafts and co-workers, using effective verbal and written communication. Actively participate in on-the-job training and mentoring opportunities with co-workers in your craft.
Requirements
- Ability to use appropriate hand tools such as hammer and pliers, and power tools like skill saw and concrete vibrator
- Add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers and fractions rapidly and accurately
- Use effective verbal and written communication skills
- Listen to co-workers suggestions, safety concerns, and recommendations giving full attention
- Coordinate work with other crafts and co-workers on the job
- Understand and respond appropriately to all safety hazards and warning devices
- Understand, support, and follow lockout/tag out procedures
- Actively participate in on-the-job training and mentoring opportunities

- Remove rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces and patch holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound
