About this role

This senior role ensures the highest standards of workplace health, safety, and environmental compliance while serving as a Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) Level 2. The position is critical in minimizing operational risks, maintaining regulatory compliance, and fostering a safe, healthy work environment for all personnel on site.

Day-to-day responsibilities include leading and managing all onsite EHS programs, conducting routine inspections, audits, and hazard assessments, and developing site-specific safety plans and emergency response procedures. The officer provides safety training, briefings, and toolbox talks, investigates incidents and near misses, and prepares detailed reports with preventive recommendations.

This role coordinates closely with project managers, supervisors, and government representatives to ensure safety requirements are met throughout all phases of work. The officer works independently in a fast-paced environment, monitoring environmental impacts and handling hazardous materials, while serving as the primary point of contact for all safety matters on site.

Requirements

  • Active Secret Clearance required at time of hire.
  • 6–8 years of experience in the environmental, health, and safety field (preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience serving as an SSHO or equivalent safety leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926, EM 385 1-1, and other applicable safety regulations.
  • Proven ability to conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and training skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make critical decisions in fast-paced environments.
  • Prior experience supervising a workforce responsible for operations, maintenance, and repair of commercial building infrastructure systems.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections, audits, and hazard assessments to identify risks and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop, update, and enforce site-specific safety plans, emergency response procedures, and environmental compliance protocols.
  • Provide safety training, briefings, and toolbox talks to personnel and contractors.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; prepare detailed reports and recommend preventive measures.
  • Maintain documentation required for regulatory compliance, including OSHA, EPA, and DoD standards.
  • Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, and government representatives to ensure safety requirements are met.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all safety-related matters on site.
