About this role

The Carpenter is responsible for performing standard to moderately complex tasks involving building, installing, and repairing structures, fixtures and other items using different types of materials including wood and steel. Travel to different job sites is required for this role. Work with materials such as steel, concrete, wood, plastic, fiberglass or drywall.

Plans and performs standard to moderately complex carpentry tasks necessary to construct, erect, install, or repair structures such as door and wall frames, hardware, doors, casework and trim, and specialty hardware such as handrails, laminates and door handles. Studies specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to determine dimensions and materials required to complete a task.

Selects and uses appropriate hand and power tools and materials required for completion of a job such as tape, saw, drill, level, chalk box, razor knife, nail puller, nail gun and square or other as necessary. Work is performed primarily in an outdoor setting with exposure to all types of weather and temperature conditions, and travel from site to site.

Physical demands include walking, standing, and sitting for prolonged periods; frequently stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, reaching, twisting, grasping, and making repetitive hand movements. Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs without assistance and greater than 50 lbs with assistance. EOE - Vets/Disabilities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • 1-4 years experience working as a general Carpenter on commercial or industrial projects
  • Experience with various manual and power tools such as tape, square, plumb bob, level, hammer, razor knife, chalk box, tool belt, nail puller, and construction calculator
  • Strong reading, written and verbal communication skills in English, verbal communication in Spanish considered an asset but not required
  • Valid Driver's License
