Mears Group

Rotherham, GB · Internship · £22,120 – £28,186

About this role

Bricklaying is a core function within the construction sector, especially in house building and refurbishments. As an Apprentice Bricklayer, you will lay bricks, blocks, and other types of building components in mortar to construct and repair walls, foundations, partitions, arches, and chimney stacks. You might also refurbish brickwork and seal foundations with damp resistant materials.

The Level 2 Bricklayer apprenticeship covers working safely on site, including health and safety rules, PPE use, and recognizing risks like working at height and manual handling. You will learn safe systems of work such as site inductions, toolbox talks, and risk assessments. Maintain a safe and tidy work area while understanding environmental responsibilities like waste segregation and recycling.

Gain knowledge of building construction principles including walls, floors, roofs, insulation, and damp protection. Study common bricklaying materials like bricks, blocks, mortar, wall ties, and DPCs. Read drawings and specifications to set out and construct solid and cavity walls, openings, bonds, and joint finishes.

Join Mears Group where apprenticeships develop the next generation workforce, with many senior people starting as apprentices. Get paid above national minimum wage for normal hours plus college attendance, with real-life experiences in people's homes and community projects.
