About this role

The Bricklayer Journeyman lays and binds building materials such as brick, structural tile, concrete block, glass block, and terra-cotta block with mortar to construct or repair walls, partitions, arches, sewers, and other structures. Duties include laying brick, block, CMU, tile, granite, and limestone. They cut mortar joints, tuck-point masonry, and caulk using tools like blowtorches, forklifts, and power drills.

Perform reactive and preventative maintenance related to bricklaying on county buildings. Conduct health and safety inspections and work off swing stages at any height for masonry work. Examine brickwork or structures to determine repair needs.

Work independently with little supervision and perform other duties as assigned. Set up and take down ladders, scaffolding, and temporary structures. Assist other tradesmen on projects while interpreting blueprints to calculate materials.

Fasten or fuse brick to structures with wire clamps, anchor holes, torch, or cement. Lay and align bricks, blocks, or tiles for high-temperature equipment like kilns and furnaces. Use levels, lifts, grinders, saws, and pressure washers for precise work.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Possession of a Bricklayer Journeyman License
  • At least three (3) years of Bricklayer Journeyman experience; five (5) years preferred
  • Candidates subject to multiple criminal background investigations
