About this role

Rugby Borough Council is seeking a skilled and reliable Roofer/Bricklayer to join the Facilities and Environmental Services team. This 5-month contract role, highly likely to be extended, focuses on maintenance and repair of the Council's residential property portfolio. Execute high-quality roofing and bricklaying repairs safely, efficiently, and to high standards.

Carry out a variety of roofing repairs on residential properties, including tiling, slating, addressing leaks, and structural wear. Perform essential bricklaying duties such as repointing, rebuilding small walls, and repairing damaged brickwork on domestic dwellings. Maintain strong attention to detail to ensure quality and durability.

Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations, particularly when working at heights or using specialized equipment. Join a local authority team handling social housing properties. A company vehicle is provided for official duties.

Requirements

  • Proven experience specifically in roofing, bricklaying, or a combination of both trades
  • Previous experience working on residential/domestic properties, ideally within a social housing or local government context
  • Practical knowledge of current health and safety regulations relevant to construction and repair work
  • Valid UK Driving Licence required to operate the provided company vehicle
  • Available to work immediately or at short notice
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Formal qualifications based on experience demonstrated at interview stage
