About this role
UGL's Utilities business leads Australia's energy transition, delivering design and construction for critical power infrastructure. Projects include transmission lines, switchyards, substations, and electrical distribution networks across the full lifecycle. We seek an experienced Construction Manager for an upcoming Melbourne project.
A typical day involves planning, leading, and controlling construction activities to meet safety, time, budget, and quality standards. Coordinate resources like labour, plant, and subcontractors while monitoring progress. Integrate functions with engineering, procurement, logistics, quality, and document control for efficient delivery.
Ensure compliance with HSSE standards, environmental licences, workplace laws, and record-keeping. Manage stakeholder relationships by liaising with clients and supporting employee relations. Maintain project data and handle ad-hoc tasks as needed.
Bring extensive experience in utilities infrastructure, especially Brownfield substations, and strong construction knowledge. Join a team that has delivered over 7,300 km of transmission lines and 300+ substations. Applications welcome even if not all qualifications match.

Requirements
- Extensive Construction Management experience working within utilities infrastructure sectors specifically on Brownfield substation environments
- Strong understanding and knowledge of construction principles on foundations, structures, and access tracks
- High level of business and commercial acumen with ability to create, read, interpret budgets, financial statements, and analyse variance reports
- Tertiary Engineering qualification or relevant industry trade background
Responsibilities
- Plan, lead, and control construction activities to deliver projects safely, on time, within budget, and to required quality standards
- Coordinate resources and teams to ensure sufficient labour, plant, and subcontractors while monitoring progress and performance
