About this role
Join Walbridge as a Senior Estimator coordinating full estimating service efforts for all Construction Specification Institute (CSI) divisions on large, complex projects. Handle Lump Sum, Design Build, and Construction Management formats. Interpret designs, drawings, specifications, and contract documents across multiple delivery systems.
Review proposal specifications and drawings, attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work. Develop scope requirements and issue subcontracts for heavy industrial trades like boilermaker, steel, concrete, piping, and electrical. Prepare cost estimates and bid documents ensuring accuracy for management.
Work from Detroit, Pittsburgh, or Charlotte offices with minimal travel. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, supervisors, and stakeholders on contractual requirements including risk factors, schedule, insurance, bonding, and penalties. Engage in subcontractor proposal reviews and negotiations.
Identify competitive edge strategies leading to project award and develop action plans for estimates and construction. Thrive in fast-paced environments assessing risks and managing budgets. Make an impact in a culture promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or related program preferred, or equivalent professional training and experience with high school diploma
- Minimum of five years of estimating, preconstruction or related general construction management experience
- Proficiency in computer estimating applications including Excel and Estimating Software
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills to coordinate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Experience using Microsoft Project or Primavera
- Established technical knowledge encompassing construction and estimating processes
- Proficiency in budget management, financial forecasting, and resource allocation
Responsibilities
- Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and estimate contents

- Write proper scopes of work during bidding phase and conduct subcontractor proposal review meetings
- Prepare cost estimates and bid documents for construction projects used in the bidding process
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of estimates and proposals
- Identify competitive edge strategies and follow through to project award
- Review and communicate contractual requirements like risk factors, schedule, insurance, bonding, and penalties
- Develop action plans for the estimate and project construction
