Senior Estimator - Construction

About this role

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or related program preferred, or equivalent professional training and experience with high school diploma
• Minimum of five years of estimating, preconstruction or related general construction management experience
• Proficiency in computer estimating applications including Excel and Estimating Software
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills to coordinate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
• Experience using Microsoft Project or Primavera
• Established technical knowledge encompassing construction and estimating processes
• Proficiency in budget management, financial forecasting, and resource allocation

Responsibilities

• Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and estimate contents
• Develop scope requirements and issue subcontracts for heavy industrial trades such as boilermaker, steel, concrete, piping, and electrical work
• Write proper scopes of work during bidding phase and conduct subcontractor proposal review meetings
• Prepare cost estimates and bid documents for construction projects used in the bidding process
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of estimates and proposals
• Identify competitive edge strategies and follow through to project award
• Review and communicate contractual requirements like risk factors, schedule, insurance, bonding, and penalties
• Develop action plans for the estimate and project construction
