Goodman is a dynamic and innovative real estate company serving as developer and investor, focused on logistics real estate and expanding into cutting-edge data centre projects. We seek an experienced Mechanical Package Manager based in Madrid to join our expanding Data Centre project team. This role oversees design, installation, and commissioning of critical mechanical systems including HVAC and cooling infrastructure.
The Mechanical Package Manager holds overall responsibility for managing all aspects of the mechanical package, from contractor design and procurement to contract governance, pre-construction, mobilisation, commercial aspects, and defect-free handover. Lead a safety-first culture as a priority while working closely with the Project Lead. Ensure Goodman safety standards are applied to achieve zero accidents on projects.
Review and comment on design information in collaboration with the Goodman engineering team to ensure buildability, commissionability, and compliance with requirements. Identify design optimisation and pre-fabrication opportunities with contractors. Provide input to early development activities like securing land, power, and permits for site acquisitions.
Collaborate with the Project Lead on procurement strategy, evaluate tender returns, and manage on-site works safely through weekly audits and health & safety tours. Assist with quality assurance, commissioning, and value engineering initiatives across projects. Challenge the obvious and create space for greatness in a innovative environment.
Requirements
- Experience overseeing design, installation, and commissioning of HVAC and cooling systems in data centres
- Background in managing mechanical packages for mission-critical facilities
- Knowledge of contractor design review, procurement, and contract governance processes
- Proven ability to lead safety-first cultures and achieve zero accident objectives
- Familiarity with value engineering, design optimisation, and pre-fabrication opportunities
- Skills in evaluating tenders and managing commercial aspects of construction packages
- Understanding of early development activities including risk management for site acquisitions
Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of the mechanical package including contractor design, procurement, contract governance, pre-construction, mobilisation, commercial aspects and delivery through to handover with defect-free ambition
- Lead a safety-first culture in all aspects of mechanical package management and ensure Goodman safety standards are applied to achieve zero accidents
- Review and comment on all design information to ensure it is buildable, commissionable, and compliant with Goodman’s requirements and end-user needs
- Collaborate with Project Lead and team on procurement strategy and fully review general contractors and sub-contractor tender returns
- Undertake robust weekly audits of submitted method statements and risk assessments
- Assist with preparation of schedules, monitor critical path activities, and proactively address delays advising Project Lead
- Conduct weekly health & safety tours and record issues on the Project H&S tool
- Assist with quality audits, commissioning, and ensure systems are ready for handover
