During your Building Division Co-op, assist the Project Management Team with planning, organizing, and supporting project execution works. Handle tasks from negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors to providing support with work methods. Develop improvements to design standards and solve complex design and engineering issues onsite.
Gain exposure to construction estimation, onsite project management, and temporary works engineering/review. Coordinate works with foremen, surveyors, superintendents, engineers, project managers, and subcontractors. Report to various civil project sites in Ontario and the EBC Mississauga Corporate Office.
Participate in site meetings with project stakeholders and contribute to contract negotiations and project scheduling. Monitor daily works through technical and administrative tasks while respecting health and safety requirements. Reach your full potential through hands-on involvement in real project duties.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Currently enrolled in a co-op program for civil engineering students
- Ability to report to various civil project sites in Ontario
- Familiarity with construction plans, specifications, and drawings
- Knowledge of project scheduling and quantity takeoffs
- Understanding of construction methods and temporary works
- Comfortable working in office and field environments
Responsibilities
- Monitor works daily through technical and administrative tasks assigned
- Plan and oversee works coordination with foremen, surveyors, superintendents, engineers, project managers and subcontractors
- Prepare and follow up on technical issues in plans and specifications
- Prepare, monitor, analyze and manage subcontractor files
- Contribute to contract negotiations and project scheduling
- Obtain permits and authorizations required to carry out works
- Assist, review and communicate technical questions and change requests to customer representative
- Plan, supervise and contribute to development of construction methods including temporary works engineering
