About this role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Assistant Commercial Manager within our Consulting Highways Team supporting the Devolved Accounts across Wales, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland. This role covers a variety of contracts, including NEC3 and 4. You will support day-to-day commercial management of consulting highways projects.

You will assist with review and analysis of cost and value reports, supporting effective project budgetary control, forecasting and month-end reporting. Provide contractual and commercial guidance to Delivery Managers, Project Managers and wider teams. Help understand Amey’s and Client’s contractual responsibilities while embedding commercial best practice.

Support preparation and management of Early Warnings and Compensation Events, manage commercial change and ensure compliance with Amey’s bidding governance. Manage supplier accounts for robust oversight and effective supply chain relationships. Produce quotations in a high-volume environment, liaising with internal teams and partners.

Contribute to identification, review and management of commercial risk. Maintain strong relationships with colleagues and Clients. Gain exposure to highways and infrastructure consulting projects across regions, including specialist commissions.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with NEC3 and NEC4 contracts
  • Experience reviewing and analysing cost and value reports
  • Knowledge of project budgetary control, forecasting and month-end reporting
  • Understanding of Early Warnings, Compensation Events and commercial change management
  • Awareness of commercial governance, bidding processes and control frameworks
  • Ability to manage supplier accounts and supply chain relationships
  • Skills in producing quotations and assessing commercial risks in highways projects

Responsibilities

  • Support maintenance of effective valuation and commercial processes throughout the project lifecycle, including preparation of accurate and timely quotations
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with commercial processes, systems and procedures consistent with governance and business requirements
  • Work collaboratively with Project Managers and Delivery Managers to apply robust quotation and commercial control processes
  • Support identification, assessment and reporting of commercial risks and opportunities at project level, contributing to mitigation strategies
  • Assist in managing Client expectations through professional communication and collaborative one-team approach with delivery teams
  • Monitor and support compliance with project commercial KPIs, escalating matters where performance or risk thresholds are exceeded
  • Provide day-to-day contractual and commercial support to project teams, helping understand contractual obligations and performance requirements
