BlueScope is an Australian-born global success story spanning 15 countries. Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for a Refractory Installation Bricklayer in our Refractory Service Team. The team provides integrated services including development, sourcing, installation and delivery of refractory solutions for operations.
In this highly physical role, join our experienced team of refractory bricklayers and installers. Contribute to delivery of all refractory installation services, including safety of people, quality of materials and reliability of installations. The Refractory Service team ensures security, reliability and availability of operational refractory lined units.
Currently, this role works Monday to Friday, 12-hour shifts 4 on 4 off. As a valued member of the Refractory Services team, focus on safety standards and refractory techniques like bricklaying, gunning and repairs. Work in a supportive environment within the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio.

Requirements
- Certificate III in Bricklaying
- Commitment to the safety of yourself and others
- High attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a highly physical environment
- Ability to work independently while contributing to the greater team’s success
- Developed communication skills for building constructive and effective relationships
Responsibilities
- Contribute to a safe working environment, ensuring safety standards are never compromised
- Reline ladles and vessels for iron and steel making using bricklaying and other refractory installation techniques
- Carry out refractory installation and repairs of Blast Furnace troughs
- Spray refractory materials using gunning techniques
- Operate forklifts and overhead cranes following internal and external training
