Project Managers administer and coordinate design and construction activities for complex, high-visibility projects. They manage planning, problem-solving, and execution to ensure smooth delivery while upholding quality, compliance, and performance standards across consultants, vendors, and contractors. Daily work involves reviewing documents to resolve errors early and collaborating on technical issues for code-compliant facilities.
Roles require continuous communication with contractors, construction managers, school personnel, and senior staff. Requirements
- At least five years of relevant experience with significant exposure to managing construction projects
- Experience administering design and construction for public agency projects
- Proficiency in reviewing construction documents and resolving design errors
- Knowledge of change orders, technical issues, and code-compliant construction practices
- Ability to handle contractor claims, disputes, and field issue resolutions
- Familiarity with project phasing, scheduling, and stakeholder timeline management
- Experience collaborating with architects, engineers, and construction teams on high-visibility projects
Responsibilities
- Administer and coordinate design and construction activities for complex and/or high-visibility projects
- Manage project planning, problem-solving, and execution to ensure smooth project delivery
- Uphold quality, compliance, and performance standards across all consultants, vendors, and contractors
- Review design and construction documents to identify and resolve errors early in the process
- Collaborate with architects and engineers on change orders, technical issues, and document interpretations
- Maintain continuous communication with contractors, construction managers, school personnel, and senior project staff
- Make key decisions on project phasing and scheduling; prepare and monitor timelines
- Mentor and support junior project managers and contractors on project execution and problem-solving
