About this role
Mortenson is currently seeking a Carpenter II responsible for the construction and repair of wood and wallboard fixtures in compliance with local building codes and general construction principles. This role demands precision in building temporary structures and handling materials on site. Carpenters ensure all work aligns with project plans and safety standards.
Daily tasks include studying blueprints, sketches, or building plans to determine material requirements and measure dimensions. Build decks, stairs, roofs, and other temporary structures, while installing shelves and setting up tool trailers. Hand-set forms, assemble gang forms, and assist with shooting grades and elevations.
Team members unload, handle, stockpile, and erect prefabricated materials, performing concrete and rough carpentry tasks like hand-setting walls and footings. The environment fosters building relationships with individuals of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels. Strong teamwork orientation and effective communication support collaborative site operations.

Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of three (3) years carpentry experience
- Trade or technical school certification/diploma preferred
- Ability to work with precision, visualize solid objects from drawings, and speak and understand English
- Strong teamwork orientation, positive attitude, professional customer service skills, detail orientation, and effective communication including active listening and openness to diverse input and feedback
- Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs. (over 50 lbs. with assistance of another team member or equipment)
Responsibilities
- Set up trailers
- Study blueprints, sketches, or building plans to determine material requirements and measure dimensions
- Build decks, stairs, roofs, and other temporary structures; install shelves, setup tool trailers/conex’s, silt fences/straw bales, and setup site per erosion control plan
- Hand-set forms and assemble gang forms
- Assist journeyman and foreman with shooting grades and elevations
- Unload, handle, stockpile, and erect prefabricated materials
- Perform concrete and rough carpentry including hand set walls, footings, gang wall forms, structural concrete decks, drywall, finish carpentry, doors, frames, hardware, millwork, and cabinetry
