About this role

SOCOTEC’s Environmental Science team delivers independent, UKAS accredited environmental testing and scientific analysis that supports safer, more sustainable decisions across construction, infrastructure, energy, marine and manufacturing sectors. As a Trainee Quantity Surveyor, you will play a vital role in supporting SOCOTEC’s continued success in this growing division. Join a proactive team delivering high quality environmental chemistry, soil, water and waste testing.

You will develop commercial skills with some supervision and training while taking comprehensive notes to support independent learning and project recording. Undertake a professional qualification in the construction industry as part of your role. Work confidently independently and collaborate effectively as part of the Environmental Science Team.

Requirements

  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Willingness to work on a secondment role in a client’s office or site premises
  • A qualification in a relevant subject, Level 3 or above, to be eligible for Degree Apprenticeship
  • Proactive, reliable, and flexible approach
  • Confidence to work independently
  • Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team

Responsibilities

  • Develop commercial skills with some supervision and training
  • Take comprehensive notes to support independent learning and for project recording
  • Undertake a professional qualification in the construction industry
  • Assist in quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications
  • Support preparation of bills of quantities for environmental projects
  • Participate in site measurements and valuations
  • Help monitor costs and variations on construction contracts
