About this role
The principal purpose of the Quantity Surveyor is to lead and support accurate estimation, cost control, and financial management of construction projects. Assist in assessing sub-contractor payment applications and variations from commencement through to final account. Ensure projects complete within budget, providing value for money while maintaining quality and contract compliance.
Review subcontractor tenders, negotiate packages, and create commercial awareness amongst project teams per T&C. Support setting up commercial performance targets in the company system and assist procurement for cost-effective resources like materials, equipment, and contractors. Feed latest technologies, costs, and lead times into preconstruction activities.
Analyse outcomes, write detailed progress reports, and provide feedback on commercial aspects of sales invoices and costs. Attend site meetings for clients, walkdowns, subcontractors, and inspections. Share knowledge and impart skills to team members in an international environment.
Assist in developing company commercial procedures and documents. The role evolves to meet organizational needs, with opportunities for training, CPD, and professional membership fees after probation. Be part of a diverse, equal opportunity employer driving energy transition.
Requirements
- Third Level Degree or equivalent in education and experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience
- Work with multiple projects/sites experience
- Contracting service experience
- Knowledge of renewable energy sector would be an advantage
Responsibilities
- Understand commercial terms and conditions (T&C) from the sales team or contract
- Assist in preparation of Bills of Quantities for Civils operations
- Review and assess subcontractor tenders and negotiate subcontract packages
- Create commercial and contractual awareness amongst project teams as per T&C
- Support setting up and upload commercial performance targets in the company system
- Assist procurement team to source cost-effective resources (material, equipment & contractor)
- Assist with review of subcontractor claims and project variations
- Attend site for client meetings, site walkdowns, subcontractor meetings and work inspections
