About this role

We are seeking a Skilled Operative - Bricklayer to join our expanding team in a permanent role. Varied experience within the Construction or Civil Engineering sector is essential. This position offers opportunities to apply bricklaying skills on infrastructure and structural projects.

Day-to-day tasks involve working safely following procedures and instructions while using tools and equipment. Undertake manual labour such as loading vehicles, digging, lifting, and specialist bricklaying trades. Ensure all materials and plant are fit for use and report defects promptly.

Co-operate closely with the Site Supervisor and General Foreman to maintain safety for yourself and others. Mentor General Operatives and inexperienced staff in work tasks. Assist with site paperwork for daily and weekly submissions to Head Office.

Requirements

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 Bricklaying - Essential
  • CSCS card or equivalent construction skills card - Essential
  • Full UK driving licence - Essential
  • PTS - Essential
  • Proven experience as bricklayer in construction, civils, infrastructure or structural repair works
  • Ability to lay bricks, blocks and masonry units to high standard of finish and structural compliance
  • Good understanding of safe working practices, manual handling, material control and housekeeping
  • Good awareness of quality standards, accurate setting out and workmanship

Responsibilities

  • Work safely following procedures, instructions, and using tools and equipment properly
  • Co-operate with Site Supervisor / General Foreman to avoid risks to self or others
  • Undertake manual labour including loading/unloading vehicles, digging, lifting, and bricklaying trades
  • Correctly use and maintain provided PPE and request improvements for safety
  • Ensure vehicles, materials, tools, and plant under control are fit for use and report defects
  • Discuss work aspects with supervisors if unsure or to improve safety
  • Mentor General Operatives and inexperienced staff in tasks
  • Assist with site administration paperwork for Head Office submissions
