About this role

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to act as the key, day-to-day client interface and deliver value-added cost management services for a major, multi-phase data center construction program. This includes a large, multi-building campus footprint with high-density technical facilities and parallel construction phases. The role offers remote work from anywhere in the US Central or Mountain time zones.

In this position, you will develop detailed cost plans, produce monthly cost reports, and coordinate cost data from design teams, contractors, and vendors. You will review pricing, lead negotiations, manage change orders, and track cost variances across the project lifecycle. Clear communication and independent work are essential in this client-facing environment.

You will collaborate with general contractors, design partners, and stakeholders on a large, multi-phase construction campus. Coordinate with project controls teams to integrate cost, schedule, and scope while informing engineering priorities based on cost considerations. Lead value engineering sessions to optimize project outcomes.

Embed and promote Turner & Townsend’s purpose, values, and vision while providing leadership and direction. Compile built cost records for benchmarking and contribute to procurement strategies. Gain exposure to market trends, escalation, and advanced cost management on world-impacting projects.

Requirements

  • Confident in a client-facing environment with clear communication skills
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Experience providing leadership and direction in cost management
  • Proficiency in cost planning, estimation, and reporting for data center projects
  • Knowledge of construction market trends, escalation, and benchmarking
  • Skilled in commercial negotiations, change order management, and value engineering
  • Familiarity with integrating cost, schedule, and scope in large-scale programs

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed cost plans and estimates through design and delivery phases for a multi-building, large-scale construction campus
  • Produce and present monthly cost reports, executive summaries, and funding information
  • Coordinate cost data from design teams, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors for thorough cost validation
  • Review contractor and subcontractor pricing and lead commercial negotiations to drive fair and competitive contract values
  • Lead the review, estimation, negotiation, and reconciliation of change orders throughout the construction lifecycle
  • Manage post-contract cost variances, change control processes, commitment logs, and contingency tracking
  • Support cost risk analysis, scenario planning, and cost-impact assessments
  • Lead and coordinate value engineering (VE) sessions with stakeholders
