About this role

We are on the lookout for a Skilled Operative - Bricklayer to join our expanding team in Wigan. If you are looking for a permanent role and have varied experience within Construction or Civil Engineering sector, we'd love to hear from you. This position suits those ready to contribute reliably onsite.

Your responsibilities will include working in a proper manner following appropriate procedures and instructions, using all tools and equipment in a safe manner. Undertake manual labour such as loading and unloading vehicles, cleaning, maintenance, digging, lifting, pulling, and relevant specialist bricklaying trades as directed. Ensure competency levels match your training and experience.

Co-operate with and follow direction of Site Supervisor / General Foreman to avoid risks to yourself or others. Correctly use and maintain PPE provided, requesting improvements where safety standards could be enhanced. Report defects in tools, plant, equipment or protective clothing to Site Supervisor, General Foreman, and Safety Advisor.

Discuss all aspects of work with Site Supervisor / General Foreman if unsure or if safety can be improved. Mentor General Operatives and inexperienced staff in work tasks, and assist with site paperwork for daily and weekly submissions to Head Office. Attend work promptly and properly equipped, handling any other duties reasonably required.

Requirements

  • NVQ 3 Bricklaying
  • Civil experience
  • Varied experience within Construction or Civil Engineering sector
  • Competency gained through training and experience in specialist trades
  • Ability to work safely following procedures and using tools/equipment
  • Knowledge of PPE use and maintenance
  • PTS (desirable)

Responsibilities

  • Work in a proper manner following appropriate procedures and instructions, using tools and equipment safely
  • Co-operate with and follow direction of Site Supervisor / General Foreman to avoid risks
  • Undertake manual labour including loading/unloading vehicles, cleaning, digging, lifting, pulling, and competent specialist bricklaying trades
  • Correctly use and maintain provided PPE, requesting safety clothing or equipment improvements
  • Ensure vehicles, materials, tools and plant under control are fit for use, stored and disposed correctly, reporting defects
  • Discuss work aspects with Site Supervisor / General Foreman for safety improvements
  • Contribute to site administration by assisting with paperwork for submissions to Head Office
  • Mentor General Operatives and inexperienced staff in work tasks
