About this role

The Site Agent/Senior Agent will be based in the Midlands and manages the overall day-to-day supervision of the construction site. This role monitors the preparation of the site prior to project launch and oversees the safe and efficient operation of the site throughout the construction phase.

Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and overseeing site setup, managing relationships with subcontractors, and driving the pace of the project in the field. The Site Agent coordinates and prioritises the sequence of activities on site, ensuring that HSEQS protocols are always adhered to and quality control procedures are maintained.

The Site Agent will manage a team of foremen and other site staff, working closely with Contract Management and Commercial Teams to flag any issues that could impact project delivery.

This role offers the opportunity to work on complex highways and resurfacing projects up to £60m in value, with a competitive salary, yearly increase, company car or car allowance, and 26 days of holiday. Requirements

  • Experience on National Highways and complex resurfacing projects up to £60m in value
  • Experience as number 2 on projects in delivery, plus preconstruction experience in planning and coordination
  • Experienced in coordination of utility providers, TM, and deep drainage, as well as general highways experience
  • Strong people management experience and ability to manage a variety of subcontractor supervision
  • Ability to deal with conflicting priorities and difficult stakeholders, particularly subcontractors
  • Ability to communicate with colleagues and clients in a warm and persuasive way, both formally and informally
  • More than ten years’ experience working across a range of sectoral projects
  • Willing to travel to future schemes

Responsibilities

  • Participates in compiling the initial programme and maintains full awareness of weekly targets
  • Plans and oversees the site setup, ensuring appropriate facilities are in place prior to project launch
  • Manages relationships with subcontractors while working onsite
  • Takes ownership for ensuring HSEQS protocols are always adhered to on sites
  • Maintains quality control procedures and ensures the TWR is in place and up to date
  • Monitors onsite energy and waste data and ensures an efficient registration system for site access
  • Flags issues with Contract Management/Commercial Teams that could impact project delivery
  • Drives the pace of the project, coordinates activity sequences, and manages a team of foremen and site staff
