Michigan Paving and Materials, a vertically integrated CRH company, seeks a Plant Operator responsible for controlling and maintaining heavy machinery and equipment, ensuring safety and efficiency on construction sites. The role involves safely operating equipment and performing routine maintenance. Join our team and help build a strong foundation for success.
Daily tasks include accurately operating various pieces of heavy equipment, cleaning up the job site, and conducting regular inspections. Lubricate machinery and perform general maintenance to keep it in safe working condition. Load and unload materials or equipment as required.
Follow all safety regulations, obey traffic laws, and actively participate in weekly safety meetings. Report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, incidents, defects, accidents, or violations to supervisors. Work closely with crew members, displaying a professional and courteous attitude at all times.
The work environment is outdoors on job sites in extreme weather for extended hours, with high noise, dirt, grease, dust, and near heavy equipment. Be willing to travel, work nights and weekends when necessary, and arrive in proper work attire and PPE. Opportunities for employee development and advancement are a focus.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Previous experience helping operate or working around heavy equipment
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- CDL preferred
- Ability to pass pre-employment screening and testing
- Strict adherence to safety requirements, procedures, and PPE policies
- Willing to travel and work away from home when required
- Willing to work nights and weekends when necessary
Responsibilities
- Safely, accurately, and efficiently operate various pieces of heavy equipment
- Perform routine maintenance including cleaning job site, conducting inspections, lubricating, and general upkeep
- Follow all safety protocols, regulations, and traffic laws while participating in weekly toolbox talks
- Load and unload materials or equipment as required
- Promptly report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, incidents, defects, accidents, or violations
- Collaborate with team members to complete tasks efficiently and on schedule
- Adhere to workplace standards and wear required PPE including steel-toed footwear and safety glasses
