About this role

Due to the creation of a new business unit at Ground Control, we are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor for a 6-month contract. This key commercial role oversees large-scale landscape construction projects within a designated region. It ensures strong financial performance and successful project delivery.

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will drive profitability and maintain robust commercial control across multiple projects. Working closely with Project Managers and the commercial team, you will handle accurate reporting, effective cost management, and contractual compliance. Responsibilities span financial management, procurement, and project support.

You will manage project budgets, produce weekly cost reports and monthly financials, and perform cost and value reconciliation to identify risks and opportunities. Additional duties include preparing valuations, managing variations and Additional Instructions, and leading subcontractor procurement through tendering and package preparation.

Requirements

  • Chartered Quantity Surveyor or highly experienced equivalent
  • Experience as Quantity Surveyor within landscape or construction projects
  • Background in subcontracting or main contractor environments
  • Experience managing procurement programmes
  • Experience with subcontractor management
  • Knowledge of cost and value reconciliation and forecasting
  • Familiarity with change control, variations, and contractual notices
  • Ability to conduct site measurements and maintain document control

Responsibilities

  • Manage project budgets and ensure profitability targets are achieved
  • Produce accurate weekly cost reports and monthly financial reporting
  • Carry out cost and value reconciliation (CVR), identifying risks and opportunities
  • Provide cost forecasts and manage variances against budget
  • Prepare and submit monthly valuations, ensuring full entitlement is captured
  • Manage change control processes, including variations and Additional Instructions (AIs)
  • Liaise with client-side Quantity Surveyors to agree valuations and contract changes
  • Lead subcontractor procurement, including tendering and package preparation
