About this role

As a Multi Skilled Operative in Holcim UK's rail operation at Torr, you'll support day-to-day running of rail loading facilities and wider quarry operations. This varied role involves plant operation, site maintenance, and loading aggregates onto trains. You'll ensure materials move safely and efficiently per production schedules.

Expect tasks like operating authorised mobile plant, routine duties in quarry and rail areas, and basic inspections with housekeeping. Carry out work in line with Health & Safety procedures, report issues, and complete documentation accurately. Support preventative maintenance to meet targets.

Requirements

Strong commitment to health and safety and safe working practices
Proactive approach to operational duties
Ability to operate mobile plant where trained and authorised
Experience in quarry or rail loading operations
Competence in site maintenance and housekeeping
Familiarity with production and logistics schedules
Skill in basic inspections and reporting defects

Responsibilities

Support the safe and efficient loading of rail wagons within the rail distribution operation
Operate mobile plant and equipment where trained and authorised
Carry out routine operational duties across the quarry and rail loading areas
Work closely with rail operations and site teams to ensure production targets are met
Carry out basic inspections, housekeeping and site maintenance activities
Ensure all work is carried out in line with Health & Safety procedures and site standards
Identify and report any safety concerns, defects or operational issues
Complete operational records and documentation accurately
