About this role

WoodMaster Portable Buildings, a Division of Tuff Shed, the industry leader in storage buildings, seeks a Carpenter at our Plant in Bastrop, TX. Motivated and team-oriented individuals will construct, assemble, and ensure the quality of wooden structures. Work indoors every day with all power tools and nail guns supplied.

Read and interpret work orders, specifications, and blueprints to understand project requirements. Align and fit hardware such as locks, handles, and hinges while ensuring measurements are accurate. Use hand and power tools, caulk, seal, and paint products during assembly.

Inspect and adjust products to meet specifications, informing the Carpenter Foreman of low inventory levels. Comply with Safety and Personal Protective Equipment requirements, maintaining a clean and organized work area. Immediately report unsafe conditions and work collaboratively with team members, climbing ladders and scaffolding as needed.

Requirements

  • Willingness to learn construction industry, basic carpentry skills, and basic painting skills
  • Ability to operate air compressors, air tools, hammer, saw, drill, and other basic power tools preferred
  • Willingness to learn basic arithmetic, read tape measure, working drawings, and speed square
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others
  • Ability to work well as a team with team-oriented mindset
  • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds at least 100 feet
  • Common knowledge of hand and power tools

Responsibilities

  • Construct, assemble, and ensure quality of wooden structures
  • Read and interpret work orders, specifications, and blueprints
  • Align and fit hardware such as locks, handles, and hinges
  • Ensure measurements are accurate for construction and assembly
  • Use hand and power tools during the construction process
  • Caulk, seal, and paint products
  • Inspect and adjust products to specifications
  • Comply with safety protocols, PPE requirements, and maintain clean workspace
