As Heavy Plant Operator, undertake the full range of end-to-end installation for Optical Fibre cable construction to meet customer expectations with limited supervision. This fixed-term role lasts 18 months with a roster of 18 nights away and 10 nights home, including travel in work time.

Achieve faultless end-to-end construction, provisioning, and maintenance of the customer access network and infrastructure through compliance to standards. Plan and undertake activities for infrastructure maintenance and upgrades within timelines. Always maintain network integrity to keep it 'always on'.

Work within a team environment to deliver premium service in a timely, cost-effective manner meeting quality standards. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers and key stakeholders. Take reasonable care for safety, complying with Telstra HSE instructions and supporting legislative duties.

Requirements

  • Heavy Plant knowledge and operating experience with Dozers, Excavators, Backhoes
  • Ripping experience
  • Understanding or willingness to learn Plough Dozer
  • Re-instating and clearing skills
  • Manual labour duties including Pit and Pipe Install, Rod and Roping, Marker Post Installation
  • Re-establishing property owner infrastructure such as fences and irrigation
  • Cleaning and greasing heavy machinery for daily operations
  • Truck Licence HR-C (combination) essential, maintain logbook for driving duties

Responsibilities

  • Plan and undertake planned activities associated with infrastructure maintenance and upgrades within timelines
  • Work within a team environment contributing to premium level of service in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers and key internal and external stakeholders
  • Take reasonable care for own safety and others, comply with Telstra HSE instructions, policies, and procedures
  • Work in accordance with a continuous roster of 18 nights away and 10 nights home
  • Always maintain network integrity to ensure 'always on' service
